Sky confirms suspension of all orders for broadband and TV services

SKY confirmed today that new customers can't subscribe for television and broadband bundles to be installed anytime soon. They are to be delayed due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

Anyone who was thinking about switching will have to think again. The broadband & TV provider has today announced that new customers now can't arrrange new installations of Sky broadband or Sky Q in their homes.

In a post on its website, Sky said "We'd love people to experience Sky. Due to COVID-19 we are currently unable to arrange new installation appointments for TV. From next week you will be able to register your interest so we can keep you informed."

Alongside the post, Sky removed all TV and bundled broadband deals from its website meaning customers are temporarily unable to see new offers or bundle discounts available.

It makes sense for Sky to stop engineers visiting home during this health crisis. They're at risk of hugely damaging PR if any of their workers is found to have caught or spead the disease. Openreach, which provides the infrastructure for brands like BT, TalkTalk, Sky, Plusnet, Onestream, EE and others, has already suspended all new installations.

We'd recommend that you check again next week to see if new deals have become available. You'll soon be able to sign up to a waiting list for an installation but in the current situation, you may be waiting until october before any new service is actually installed.

These are very interesting times in the industry - and as you can imagine, very difficult times for a broadband comparison service like ours. That said, we'll keep working to bring you news and updates on this and other issues that affect customers who need broadband in their lives. The mobile deals that we offer will be completely unaffected by this, and if you are in need of a new connection, an unlimited 4G or 5G plan which allows you to turn on 'hotspot' functionality on your phone may still be a good choice.
