Be in Charge of Your Monthly Mobile Plan

By Unknown on 18/09/2020 11:23

The majority of people have access to either a smartphone or handset. Understandably, not everybody would like to pay out a large amount of money each month to run a mobile device and luckily, you don’t have too. By checking and comparing your current pay-out each month, you can assess whether your current plan is right for you and make the move to gain savings.

Oversold

Companies are here to make money. Don’t accept the first offer and stray away from being sold overly-generous allowances. By accepting their offer of a larger data, minutes and texts
that you aren’t going to use up, you’re going to be wasting money.

An easy way to check how much you need is by using an online tool or to check on your previous provider's invoice. This will help to ensure you’re getting the right amount and won’t
go over if you choose a lower amount than you previously had.

Make sure you don’t go over your allowance by adding a ‘cap’. Typically, this will alert you when you’ve used 80% and will help you manage how much you’re using per month. If you
need more, using ‘add-ons’ can help increase in specific areas such as adding extra-data or more texts. This helps you control how much you spend per month.

Spending Caps

If you use outside of your tariff allowance, you can be charged excessive amounts. Adding a spending cap to your monthly bill will help you manage how much of your allowance you use and will help you control your spending. The majority of providers have add-ons accessible on your mobile provider's app. This helps you to add extras that are needed without a long- term commitment.

Inflation

It’s good to consider that each year your bill may increase. Whether you’re taking out a sim- only deal or a pay monthly contract, keep in mind that it will be increased the following year. When taking out a new deal, you are usually shown in T&C’s information section, what it will increase too and sometimes you’re given a percentage.

This will help you to manage your money and ensure you won’t get any unnecessary surprises.

Haggle

Providers want you to stay. If you are currently happy with your provider and looking to stick with them, this can be the perfect opportunity to take advantage as a customer. Call or email your provider and tell them you’re looking to upgrade or take out a new sim now that yours has ended.

Approaching mobile networks and saying you’re being offered the same deal for a better price will urge them to be competitive and beat that price. If you’re unhappy with the service provided by your new provider, you have legally up-to or around, 30 days to cancel. You can find a specific time frame in the terms and conditions.

Speak to them and don’t settle - this can end up costing you more than expected.

Sim Only Plans

Bought your device our right or planning on keeping it now that your contract has ended? Instead of jumping to a new handset contract for another 36 months, this can be a great opportunity to keep costs down.

Look at Sim-Only deals. This can range from £4-£30 depending on your preference and it will help you keep monthly costs to a minimum. You’re often less tied to a sim-only deal and have further flexible options.

Recycle

Have you paid off your contract and now fully own your mobile device? Recycle it.

Most providers offer an upgrade discount for those who trade in their device. This works similar to a part-exchange car deal! You trade in your old handset and whatever the value, you can take that off the overall cost of your new contract, bring down your monthly outgoings as a consequence.

Alternatively, you can recycle your handset and get the money bank transferred, which helps the environment and your pocket.

There are many ways to save on your monthly bill and tailor it to your needs. Use our ‘Mobile’ tab and compare the latest deals on handset prices, sim-only deals and contracts. It’s now even easier to strike great phone deals with our easy-to-use filter options that make it even quicker to get a tailored offer.
