How to Save Money on Streaming Services
With each year that passes by, it feels like more and more new streaming services are popping up. With your favourite films and TV series split across so many different ones, the cost of watching your favorite shows soon adds up. Here’s how to save money on streaming services right now.
Instant Savings
If you find yourself watching less and less live TV, why are you still paying out for a TV License? If you’re watching on-demand, you don’t need a license, so you’ll save yourself £157.50 a year.
Netflix
Whilst the world’s most popular streaming service unfortunately got rid of it’s free trial a couple of years ago, there’s still ways you can access Netflix for cheap.
Netflix.com/watch-free gives you access to some of their most popular original series and films without paying a penny. This includes famous sci-fi horror series Stranger Things, and psychological thriller Birdbox.
With 2 screens able to watch at the same time in HD quality, the £9.99 Standard Plan looks very appealing. But for almost half the price at £5.99, the Basic Plan is an easy way to save some cash. It’s 480p resolution is still easily watchable, and you keep the ability to watch on multiple devices, just not at the same time.
If you’re living under the same roof as another person who watches Netflix, consider getting the Premium Plan. Up to 4 screens can watch at the same time, with 4K quality available if your device supports it. Split with 4 other people, and you’ll pay just £3 each.
Amazon Prime Video
Amazon bundle Prime Video into their Prime membership, meaning you get a decent amount of services for your £7.99 a month. As well as TV & film streaming, you get access to Amazon Music and free next day delivery across a huge assortment of products.
Amazon do offer a 30 day free trial for customers, as long as you haven’t used Prime before. Make sure you cancel before your trial ends though or you’ll be billed full price for the next month.
With Prime, you get the ability to share an account with one other adult, as long as they’re under the same roof. This means you can split the £7.99 a month cost and get access to their huge collection of TV shows and movies for £4 each.
Now TV
Now TV will give you a 7 day free trial if you’re a new customer, which you can use on their Entertainment and Cinema passes. Unfortunately you’re unable to stream Sky Sports via this trial.
If you’re a regular shopper at Tesco, Clubcard Vouchers can currently be redeemed for Now TV credit. The value gets tripled, so 50p in Clubcard vouchers is £1.50 in Now TV credit. You can take advantage of this until 31st January 2021.
